Ocean View High School opened its doors in 1976 with only a freshman class, which went on to become the first graduating class of 1980. Over the next three years, a new grade level was added annually, and by the 1979-1980 school year, the school had all grades 9 through 12. The music department has been part of the school since day one. The marching band, originally called the "OVHS Marching Band," soon became the "OVHS Seahawk Entertainment Corps," and in 2009, it adopted its current name, "The Seahawk Squadron."
